Dandora — work in a hell

Dandora Municipal Dump Site — is the city dump on the outskirts of the Kenyan capital — Nairobi (population — 4 million people).

For more than six thousand people this accumulation of waste the only source of livelihood.

Here they eat, sleep, live and work. The working day of these people run from sunrise to sunset. The entire landfill is shrouded in smoke, steam and biogas, which is released by the decomposition of organic matter.

The country’s leadership has long shown alarming indifference to Dandora — ignoring environmental laws.

Below is reportage an American photographer Micah Albert who traveled in Dandora.
